Our History

In January of 1988, Bishop and First Lady Baker were led by the Holy Ghost to begin a ministry.  The first worship service was held on March 6, 1988 at 339 East Mercury Blvd. Christ Church grew and that building was no longer adequate to meet our needs.  Through divine guidance, we were led to our present location at 39 Joynes Road in December 1991.

After much prayer, fundraising, and divine intervention, Christ Church was able to purchase this property in July of 1993.  In the short space of three years, the mortgage was liquidated in August of 1996.  In the same month, our pastor’s vision saw us through a groundbreaking for a new worship center with a seating capacity of approximately 400, and construction was complete in April 1997.  Praise God, this mortgage was liquidated in July 2000.

Since being at this location, we have grown.  Souls have been saved and delivered. We have numerous ministries that minister to the total man’s spiritual and natural needs.  We have a thriving Christian Education Department that sponsors our annual VacationBible School and Children’s church.  We have an active Young People’s Department with an anointed choir and miming group. We are busy about our Father’s business in the church and local community.

God has once again given our Pastor a vision to build a multipurpose Family LifeCenter.  Preparations and plans are currently underway to bring this vision to pass.
